An Uncarved Blog

Its almost there. Just a few days before its up and running but you can get a sneak preview here of The Uncarved Blog. Here is an excerpt from one of the leading posts:

UNtangle the KNot

Amongst the multitude of web sites that claim to offer insights into productivity, digital efficiency and the step by step movement towards your goals, few programs nor systems stand out that are not - unashamedly - a sales technique, book offer or course subscription for obtaining wealth without effort.

Yet behind this superficial allure, lies the real need to do things better, more creatively, more satisfactorily. If we could - so the blurb tells us - just tinker a little longer, reshuffle the deck, re-stack the in-tray then productivity would somehow happen. Fortunately, the world operates according to other rules that dictate we learn ( and thereby benefit from) the process, and rarely from the outcome alone.

Metamorphosis imminent

G4 has sadly been slack recently due to the development on a new project incorporating the software side of the G4 site and the productivity side of my other sites. The new blog is to be announced very shortly and a link to it will be placed here within the week. Thanks for your patience and I hope you like the new site. Its a little more Yang.

Things Upgrade

I know that I have mentioned before that this program has a lot to offer the OSX user, but this week Things o.9 was released with a substantial improvement - reoccurring tasks. This small addition to an already powerful tool makes the traditional to do list appear neolithic.

Things, made by CulturedCode, offers a simple tagging system as well as a few defined categories to help you get started organising you life. Categories that make sense: Today, Next, Scheduled etc are intuitive and ready for working with. Unlike other organizing software that promises to organies not only your work, but your chakras, your chi flow, your aunts operation date and your dogs dinner, Things simply allows you the space to plan out your tasks in a sensible and useful way. And once the information is down, then the power of the tagging system means that you can pull up any area of work at any moment without having to create umpteen categories and folders beforehand.

Now with reoccurring dates, its possible to add - every second Tuesday of the month remind me to pay the Shepherd. Whatever.

It just gets better. Cant wait for the Ical sync.

You can still try out the beta version for free at the CulturedCode website.
